Conventions

When you submit any content to the democrat it must follow the terms and conditions and English Law. It is recommended that such content also comply with these conventions. These conventions were written so that the document as a whole will make sense when assembled. Wherever the term "statement" is presented, it can also be substituted with the plural.

  1. The statement should be a single paragraph not more than 500 characters long.
  2. The statement should be self contained (in other words it should make sense by itself) and not dependent on information stated in another paragraph, as the other paragraph may not be approved and the statement would become nonsensical. It is advisable to avoid terms such as "therefore", "equally", "similiarly" etc. at the beginning of a paragraph.
  3. The personal tenses "I" or "me" should be avoided.
  4. When interpreting position papers you should read them "mutatis mutandis" (changing that which needs to be changed). This means if something contradicts an earlier position paper, it should be read as overriding it if more people take part in the document vote. Otherwise, the original position stands and overrides the contradiction in the subsequent paper.

These conventions are recommendations only and are not moderated by the editor. Rather we prefer to leave it to the voters to decide whether to enforce them or not. If you wish to propose new conventions or alterations contact admin@diffusionware.com
